“I have been photographing weddings for the last 9 years and every year I fall more in love with it. Wedding photography is what I was meant to do. I really enjoy hearing from the couple and learning their story so I can capture their personality during the wedding.
1. How did you get into the wedding photography business?
“The very first wedding I ever photographed was for friends that did a Justice of the Peace ceremony in England when I was stationed there. It was just us 3 and the officiant, then we took a few images outside on this hill that over looked the little town we were in. They found me through other military friends whose family photos I had done. It was all still new and very scary, I had only been shooting for about 6 months and was still learning so much. Being part of their special day and being able to capture a moment that would change their lives forever was so amazing and magical, I knew that wedding photography was what I wanted to spend my life doing.”
2. What do you enjoy about being a wedding photographer?
“This ties a bit into the first question and that I love being able to capture that special day, to be able to take photos that they have envisioned and dreamed of and believe me every girl has swooned over a wedding image and thought “I want a picture like that of my wedding day.” I make it my mission to make that happen.”
3. What keeps you creative/inspired?
“I find inspiration from various artists, sometimes a song plays like a movie in my mind and I can see the look, the emotion behind the words. I also love looking at fashion magazines and seeing how groups are posed to give my bridal party an edgier more modern and fun look as opposed to the standard images our parents had.”
4. What is one thing you would like every bride & groom to know before the wedding?
“Timelines are awesome. Make sure the photographer, DJ and venue coordinator all have a timeline so we can help guide the day and try to keep it on track when it starts to get hectic and believe me it will get hectic.”
5. How has witnessing so many weddings impacted your life/outlook?
“Oh you know the saying “Always a bridesmaid never a bride.” I have photographed so many beautiful weddings and seen the genuine love that these couples have for each other. It really does make me a believer in soul mates and because of that I wait for the perfect guy to compliment my weird quirkiness.”
