Getting your money’s worth from your wedding photographer!
Be careful of wedding photographers that want to charge you a flat rate for all day and not give you a wedding album!
Page content. Be careful of all day rates
Many photographers now a days want to convince you that they will shoot all day and give you the DVD with the reprint rights for $1500, 2000 even $3000 and that’s all you get this sounds really good and you’ll justify not getting a wedding album or wall portraits for you wall by say well we have the photographer for all day.
THIS IS A BAD TRADE OFF you don’t need a wedding photographer all day and you’ll probably send them home some where between 6 and 8 hours
Think about the typical wedding
- Preparation 1 hour
- Ceremony 1 hour or less
- Cocktail Hour 1 hour
- Reception 3 to 5 hours
Most good wedding photographers now a days don’t charge for travel between venues and it is negeible as to whether you really need the photography more than ½ after the cake cutting as they will struggle to get the best shots while the tables are getting cleared and people are starting to let there hair down.
1 thing I can tell you for sure you fiancé has probably never had his picture taken for two hours let alone for 12 hour the all day photographers know this and they also know your probably send them home at 6 to 8 hours thus you are effectively paying a higher rate than you expect and getting less value for your wedding photography budget.
I recommend that you hire a wedding photographer with a reasonable hourly rate for 6 to 8 hours and spend the money you save on the all day person on wedding albums and parent albums (doesn’t your mom deserve it?)
