Kristen and Taylor met when they were in middle school through some mutual friends! Although they had met in middle school, they didn’t begin to date until high school.
The Proposal
Taylor and Kristen have a pretty unique story. The couple went through a tragic event just after high school. The whole situation has been the hardest thing that both of them had gone through, but it has made them stronger than they were before as a couple AND as individuals. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Taylor was gone for nearly 8 years, but they would write each other every day and Kristen would go visit as often as she could. There was one day Kristen sent Taylor a letter telling him about the information she had just learned about getting married by proxy. Kristen mailed that letter out and then went to check her own mail. She received a letter from Taylor that same day, providing her with information about getting married by proxy! They always knew they would get married, but doing it by proxy at that point in their lives just made sense. Kristen and Taylor were sitting in a visitation room one day and as Kristen was talking…in the middle of a sentence…he interrupted her and just blurted out, “will you marry me?!” And of course, Kristen said yes! The couple got married by proxy in November 2008 and although he could not be there, his brother stood in for him. SO, you can probably imagine how magical of a day it was when they got to be TOGETHER for their wedding celebration and say their vows TO each other! Kristen says, “It’s been the craziest journey but we feel so lucky to have each other and to be SO BLESSED.”

“Yes! We made all of our signs for the wedding and some of the benches we used for seating! Taylor, my dad, and my uncle built our dance floor. Taylor made our arch. We made our photo booth wall. We tried to DIY as much as possible because we love creating together! We make, paint, and sell a lot of wood signs and decor!”
Favorite Wedding Memory
“Getting to finally say our vows to each other and share all those sweet moments together in front of so many amazing people that have loved us and supported our crazy journey! Then getting to party with all of them! It was also so special to be out on my grandma’s ranch!”& a Word of Advice…
