Maya and Caleb had been friends for several years before dating. Maya had actually dated one of Caleb’s coworkers and he was trying to date Maya’s of my roommates. HOWEVER, at a house party one night, a dance battle broke out between the two of them… and the rest was history.

The Proposal
Maya was completely expecting a proposal on their upcoming Hawaiian vacation. About a month before the trip, Caleb told Maya that his boss had forgotten about a timeshare that he’d booked and couldn’t use, offering it to them for the weekend! Maya took off work and went to spend a romantic weekend in Laguna beach at the surf and sands resort with Caleb. They were having a great time at the hotel bar and went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Caleb was sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink while Maya did her hair and makeup. Caleb asked Maya to join him to enjoy the sunset from their room. While enjoying the view he admits that he lied and that his boss had not given them this room. When Maya asked why Caleb would book this stay, he said, “because I wanted to ask you to marry me.” (*swooooning*)

Favorite Wedding Detail
“One of my favorite details from the wedding was the stunning hanging floral on the archway. Combined with the amazing view and having all my favorite people there, it was the perfect place to say I do!”

Favorite Wedding Memory
“And one of my favorite memories is everyone joining in on one our inside jokes involving the air horn sound. Our guests were shouting the noise and the DJ played it throughout the night whenever we walked into the room, it had everyone laughing!”

D.I.Y. Details
“I made a lot of our wedding decore myself. I made floral and painted signs and lettering for the wedding. I also made all the signage and picture decorations. My favorite thing I made was gold lanterns adorned with gold leaves, greenery, floral, ribbons, and crystals for my bridesmaids to hold instead of bouquets.”

& a Word of Advice…
“People are going to have their opinions and may even get mad about some of your decisions. Just remember you can’t make everyone happy, and at the end of the day it is your wedding, so do what makes you happy. Also, don’t stress over tiny little details, let’s be honest no one will remember if something isn’t perfect. Just focus on good food, good music, good drinks, good friends, and a good time! Cherish your big day, it goes by faster than you think!”
