Wedding of the Week: Nicole & Joseph

Nicole & Joseph
09.30.2017

Nicole and Joseph had actually graduated high school together but never knew each other. Joseph saw Nicole in Safeway where she used to work as a ‘Checker’. Nicole says Joseph actually noticed her butt, not her (her words, not ours ;))! Joseph then messaged Nicole on Facebook and 3 months later, they started dating.

The Proposal: Joseph popped the question where the couple had their first official date, the boardwalk. Nicole and Joseph even took a fun picture of themselves on the Big Dipper, which is big part of how she describes her engagement story.

We interviewed Nicole and Joseph to get some feedback about their special day and the vendors that they chose!

Q: What were you inspired by while planning your wedding? (Theme, Color Combinations, Places?)
A: “My theme was rustic chic. The colors involved my favorite colors all variety of purples and my husband favorite color orange. Purple and orange butterflies were incorporated all over in my wedding. My wedding venue was inspired by my Pappy who passed away. He and my Grammy who still lives, lived and raised their children in the Santa Cruz Mountains and grew up in the Los Gatos area. He loved the outdoors and even grew Redwood trees on his property that are still there today. I wanted my wedding to feature the gorgeous Santa Cruz Mountains and Redwoods was a must have.”

Q: What were some of your favorite wedding day details/memories?
A: “I have a few favorite details. One really important detail is the arch that we were married under. My parents constructed and carved our names from Redwoods trees from my Pappy’s lumberyard he owned in Los Gatos. Also, the silk bouquet I was holding. It took my mom 3 months to individually wrap each silk rose. She blinged it out with our initial “B” and butterflies, which are placed all over in our wedding. It also has my Grammys old pin on the handle of the bouquet, which was my ‘old’.”

Q: Did you have any D.I.Y. (aka Do It Yourself) details?
A: “Everything in my wedding was DIY with my moms help. From the table arrangements to the aisle runner. Every detail was made with love. I could not have done it without my beautiful mom.”

Q: What advice would you give to future couples planning their wedding?
A: “Find a great photographer- you’re going to love looking back at photos. Also, if you can do some of the stuff yourself, DIY projects will help with your budget. Also, make sure to find your venue ASAP because things fill up fast. We rented out an AirBNB which helped with the cost of the venue but remember you need to do a lot of the things yourself. Hopefully you can get a lot of help from family and friends. Make sure to get a great maid of honor. A must have at your wedding is a day of coordinator. Even if you need to ask a friend to save money, do it. Also a huge hit at my wedding was a photobooth! So much fun!”

Q: What were some of your favorite wedding day details/memories?
A: “We had around 74 guests. Having a small wedding was perfect and intimate. Honestly my dream wedding.”
