Ernestine & Michael

Michael proposed to Ernestine after his CD release party in front of their family and friends. It was a live show and after he played his last song, he called Ernestine up to the front of the room to thank her for all of her support and then he dropped down to one knee and popped the question. Even though Ernestine had a small feeling it was going to happen that night, She was still caught off guard, nodded her head yes and then was so shocked that she couldn’t even kiss him correctly and then proceeded to hide on Michael’s shoulder because that’s what she does when she gets nervous or shy. And then she gave him a hard time because she always told him that if he was going to propose, to make sure that her nails were done and she happened to have only one hand painted because that’s all the time she had to do when she was working the ticket area during his show.

Michael and Ernestine actually knew each other as kids before they became a couple of decades later. They were paired up together in a production of “Snoopy” where Ernestine was “Sally” and Michael played her love interest, “Linus”. Michael honestly wasn’t very nice to her when she was 8, granted he was 13 at the time, and she hated him with a passion. (That made the show even more fun since she really had to show off her acting skills to be in “love” with a person that she couldn’t stand.) It wasn’t until they reconnected as adults on Facebook, eventually became actual friends, and the rest is history.

Favorite Part of Wedding Planning
“Since I am a Music Teacher and my husband is a musician, we decided to go with a Music themed wedding. Every aspect of our wedding had sheet music or something musical to go with it: my bouquet had sheet music roses in it, the groomsmen and groom had sheet music boutonnieres, our “guest book” were some of our favorite records, we had actual sheet music on our cake, sheet music cones in the aisles, centerpieces made out of sheet music, and even our knife and serving set had music notes engraved into it. Also, since I sing frequently for the San Jose Barracuda (the local AHL team), our colors were teal to represent the theme and we contrasted it with gold which represents “illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic, and wisdom”

“A tear jerking story from my wedding was the moment was when Mikey sang a song that he wrote about us live with his own band that we had played at our wedding. It was really special because I’ve been waiting over 6 years for him to write a song for me. “The funniest part of my wedding is when a bird almost flew into my face during the ceremony . . . and if you know me, I HATE birds so it wasn’t funny to me except for all the people who know how much I dislike them.”

Also, my husband has never been on a cruise so that would be a fun treat for him to experience that since I was a former cruise performer myself. I would love to share my past experiences of cruising with him.“
