Alyson and Kurt met freshman year of college at Christopher Newport University.

The Proposal
Kurt had been planning the engagement for a few months. The couple had made plans to go to Old Town Alexandria, VA with their friends. Alyson loves being by the water so Kurt knew this would be the perfect place to propose. The morning of April 1st, Alyson was hesitant to go down by the water as it was overcast and chilly. Kurt insisted they still go. Kurt and Alyson get to Old Town and begin walking along the water’s edge. Kurt then guides Alyson to walk down a pier. She started to walk past the spot Kurt had picked out to propose, so he had to say, “Aly come look at this duck.” She walks back to Kurt looking for this ‘duck,’ and as she looks back at Kurt, he was down on one knee with a ring asking for Alyson’s hand in marriage. She was so shocked! She says her first reaction was ‘absolutely YES,’ but then quickly asked if this was an Aprils Fools joke. It was not a joke, and Alyson and Kurt spent the rest of the day on cloud nine.

Wedding Inspiration
“Our wedding had a beach/nautical theme because we love to travel to the beach. Our colors were Navy blue and Mint.”

Favorite Wedding Memory
“Even though it rained on our wedding day we had the best time and loved every minute of the day. To name a few: Getting ready with our friends, seeing all of our family and friends as we walk down the aisle, Alyson’s brother was the officiant and he added readings that were unique to each of us (brides reading was a spice girls song, grooms reading was the Minnesota Vikings football team fight song), and the Alyson’s choreographed dance with her dad.
