Couple of the Year Entry: Maya & Caleb
Maya & Caleb 02-03-18
Caleb told her his boss had gifted them his timeshare for the weekend. So she took off work and they headed to Laguna Beach for a romantic weekend away. After cocktails and music, they headed back to the room to get ready for dinner. They had an amazing room on the first floor right on the beach. At sunset he called her onto the balcony to have a drink. He then tells her that he had lied, this was not his boss’s timeshare. When she asked him why he would do that, he pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and said "so I could ask you to marry me." They met during college when he came to a party at Maya's house, a dance battle broke out between them and seven years later they were married!
Favorite Part of Wedding Planning "I am a pretty creative person and really got to put my artistic side to work during wedding planning. I made my own signage, decor, bridesmaid’s lanterns, and more."
Tear Jerking Story from their Wedding "My father is known for his long speeches. As he got up to speak, we all took a drink and braced ourselves. He began by talking about how everyone told him that his daughter getting married would be the best day of his life. He went on to talk about me, my husband, family, love, and life itself. Towards the end of his speech he said, "so is this the best day of my life....no." And everyone laughed. He went on to say that this was because he would have many more best days... when his grandchildren were born, when we bought our first house, and so on. And all those laughs turned to tears."
Funny Story from their Wedding "My husband did an impromptu striptease in the middle of the dance floor to Ginuwine’s "pony". Shoes and shirt came off. He ended with a backwards handstand landing in my lap... and nailed it! Even my Dadiji cheered!"
The Story Behind their Favorite Wedding Photos "Many of my favorite photos included the small details we incorporated to honor my Indian heritage, which I am very proud of and my husband is very respectful of. I love the photos included our Indian garments, the hanging flowers, and all the henna. One of my favorite photos is a black and white photo of us kissing in front of the hanging flowers. After taking some photos, the photographer said it was a wrap and we could head to the party. We gave each other this huge kiss as we started to head back to our family and friends. Our photographer goes, "why didn’t you do that during the pictures!?" And has us give this deep kiss again so she can capture the moment."
Photographer Experience "Ashley was amazing! She was kind, professional, and talented. She met us before the wedding for frozen yogurt just to learn more about us. She was open to all communication and quick to respond. The day of the wedding, she was on top of it and made everything so easy. She also made you feel like a million bucks. Everyone at the wedding could not stop talking about how great she was. And the pictures prove it. Even now, we still occasionally talk."
What the couple liked most about working with Classic Photographers "The customer service and deals were amazing! Everyone was incredibly kind and professional."
Why should you be chosen as the CP Couple of the Year? "I think we should be chosen because we had a really unique wedding. Our theme was Indian fusion, we incorporated both Indian and American wedding traditions to honor both of our families. My husband and his American family wore Indian garments, while myself and my Indian side wore American dresses. Truly a unity of love. I would also love to be able to give my husband a vacation, he is always working hard to take care of me and pay for our wedding and trips. I hope I can do the same for him."
